It is so great to hear from you and that you are interested. Hello, I’m Alia from Yayasan MENDAKI.







First and foremost, let me give you an overview of what Cahaya M is about and what we do here. Cahaya M is a resource centre where our low income Malay Muslim beneficiaries can capitalize on our available resources. Our resources are not only confined to books, but also manipulatives, monthly activities and learning visits. This is where your team can come in.







See, our monthly activities are based on themes subject to approval of course. To date, we’ve done themes on:



-Theatre



-Mathematics



-Sports



-Costumes & Customs



-Science



-Languages



-Singapore



-Art







And many more…







Our theme this month is “Explore!” where we cover almost everything that we could possibly discover, Science, Arts, etc. We are proposing that maybe your team can come in for the month of July-August 2010. Your team can come up with the lesson plans and activities, worksheets for our beneficiaries ages 4-12 years old. The proposed theme are attached. See under July-Aug. It’s quite flexible, so if you have any suggestions to change the theme to something more interesting, do let me know. Attached also, a sample of the lesson plan and our worksheets.







It’s best that you can divide yourselves into groups of 8. Your team can also plan learning visits (outdoors) subject to the theme and we will plan the transport and admission tickets, etc. If the activities need materials to prepare, your team could purchase them first, subject to the approval of budget and we can claim for you. Your team can also volunteer on a day to day basis. For example, if we lack volunteers for any particular outing, events.







Most of the indoor sessions will be held at Yayasan MENDAKI, the address is as below after my signatory. We have facilities like a Video-Screening Room, Large Field and the Hall.







It is quite difficult to target a certain pool as we are targeting 40 children for each session. That is why we need a team of 8 or at least 5 each time so they can be taught in groups of different level.
